PWR 212 MULTIMEDIA AND VISUAL RHETORICS I

This course introduces students to the interrelated, specialized studies and practices of visual rhetoric, digital humanities, data design, and multimedia authoring. Students will develop a rhetorical foundation for analyzing and producing screen-based interfaces and data visualizations. The course emphasizes a process-oriented approach to design wherein design includes attention to planning, research, revision, and production. Students learn to focus on design from a rhetorical perspective, one that balances writers’ goals, users’/readers’ needs, and text design possibilities. Students will learn some newer technologies/software that that they may not already know in order to create multimedia and visual texts, but students are not expected to have prior technology or design experience.
