Theatre Arts Minor

The Theatre Arts minor challenges students to understand the basics of how theatre is created and how it functions in contemporary society in hopes of creating more enlightened avocational participants, audience members, and patrons.

Upon completion of the Theatre Arts minor, students should be knowledgeable about theatrical performance and production, and be able to communicate their understanding and appreciation for theatre through writing.

 

Learning outcomes:

·         Have a basic understanding of how theatrical performances are created.

·         Have basic competency in technical theatre practice.

·         Have a basic understanding and appreciation for the working methods of the actor.

·         Have a basic knowledge of a variety of theatrical styles and genres of dramatic literature.

·         Understand and communicate the importance and significance of theatrical performances through writing.

·         Have intermediate understanding of individual aspects of the art form.
