PHS 3701 A Reproductive Justice

Birthing persons have the right to maintain bodily autonomy, decide when to have children when to not have children, and parent the children they have in a safe, well-resourced community. This course will familiarize students with an understanding of the core principles of reproductive justice. We will explore and examine the historical, social, and economic barriers to equitable access to reproductive health care, from interdisciplinary perspectives. Students will be exposed to reproductive justice organizations, a range of public health theories that are engaged with reproductive justice work, debates on sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the opportunity to engage in discussions and experiential components that ground and connect the theories, and frameworks to practice.
