Transfer Admission

Transfer students are admitted to Elon University based on their academic record at the institution from which they are transferring. In order to graduate, at least 60 semester hours must be completed at Elon, including the last term before graduation. First-year transitions courses do not transfer.

Transfer students are required to have been enrolled full time with a minimum of 12 transferable university-level credits in the liberal arts and sciences demonstrating a record of consistent success and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 from the current institution. In addition, the student must be eligible to return to the last institution attended and be recommended by college or university officials.

In order to be considered for transfer admission a student must:

  1. Submit a completed and signed application for Transfer Admission with the non-refundable U.S. $50 application fee.
  2. Have official transcripts sent from all two-year or four-year institutions attended.
  3. Have a Dean’s Evaluation Form completed by the dean of students at each institution attended.
  4. Submit an official final high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores. The SAT/ACT requirement may be waived for some advanced students or nontraditional students who did not take the test while in high school. Official GED results or Adult Education transcript should be sent, if applicable.
  5. Have official Advanced Placement scores sent from College Board, if applicable.
  6. Have official International Baccalaureate scores sent, if applicable.
