ECO 320 HEALTH ECONOMICS

Over the past decade, some of the most heated political debates have centered on health-care policy and reform. In this class, we will investigate health and health-care markets using economic theory and analysis. As an applied economics course, our goal will be to objectively assess the allocation of scarce resources within the context of the U.S. health-care system. Topics may include the demand and supply of health-care and health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, comparative health systems and reform, causes and consequences of obesity, and economic models of tobacco and alcohol addiction. Applied Microeconomics.
