A comparative examination of the relationship between governments and media organizations during wartime periods in a variety of international contexts, such as the U.S. during the Vietnam war and the Soviet Union and its war in Afghanistan. Topics such as media ownership, government efforts to influence media content, government rhetoric and propaganda, and the impact of media reports on public opinion are explored.
