Economics explores a broad range of questions about society and uses a variety of methods to answer those questions.

The goal of the economics faculty is to develop students’ ability to think critically and solve real-world, ill-structured problems. Students will learn the data analysis and writing skills that are highly valued whether one’s interest is in economic consulting, public policy or graduate school. All three of our major curricula – economics, international economics, and economic consulting – are built on a rigorous foundation of the micro- and macro-economic theory needed to understand consumer and firm behavior and the data analysis skills needed to make business and policy–oriented decisions.
