GBL 250 GREECE: MYTH, MEMORY, MONUMENT

This course examines the complex, intricate relationship between the worlds of Greece, ancient and modern. Through their study of primary evidence both textual and material, both in the classroom and while abroad, students will acquire a foundation of general knowledge across the subjects of history, religion, politics, and gender studies, and more. In addition, through their deep engagement with specific sites and sources, students will become experts in a topic of their choosing and, in collaboration with one another, lead their peer groups through specific sites. As we move throughout mainland Greece, there will be continued opportunities for interaction with elements of local culture and, critically, local peoples.
