IDS 295 ANALYZE THIS! ESSENTIAL CRITICAL THEORY AND PRACTICE
This course introduces and explores theories of interpretation for use by arts and humanities students to analyze cultural products and practices of various kinds: film, other visual arts, religious worship and ritual, and written texts both literary and nonliterary. Students will examine and apply representative Western critical theories from Aristotle to the present, paying attention to the philosophical and cultural origins of those theories.

Sophomore status recommended.
