GAM 301 COMPUTER GAME PRODUCTION

Students in this course will learn the basic concepts and skills of computer game production, such as the rapid prototype cycle, playtesting, and creation of game pitches.  Students will learn some basic skills in creating the content of computer games, including digital art, music, and code, using modern software tools to better understand the creative and technical roles in a game development team.

    • Create and load a 2D sprite sheet.
    • Describe the differences in different types of 3D shaders.
    • Discuss how sound effects, music, and voiceovers are used in games.
    • Understand the role sound choices make toward overall game design.
    • Create and load sound effects and music.
    • Discuss different audio file formats.
    • Practice changing scripts to see effects on in-game sprites.
    • Articulate general coding concepts of loops and conditionals.
    • Practice creating game worlds in a drag-and-drop environment.
