POL 310 GENDER AND POLITICS
This course explores the role of gender in contemporary American politics. The first unit of the course explores the history of organizing for gender equality in the United States, the intersections between gender, race, sexual orientation, and class, and varying conceptions of feminism. The second unit of the course considers the implications of increasing women’s representation in state legislatures, Congress, and other positions of power. Finally, in the third unit of the course, major policy issues commonly considered "women's issues" are covered, including gender-based violence, access to reproductive healthcare, and wage inequality.
