BIO 361 INTRODUCTION TO CANCER BIOLOGY
For the past three decades, the understanding of how cancer disease occurs and how it can be managed has become possible through basic research on cellular processes and with the application of molecular biology. Through the knowledge gained from research, effective therapies and prevention against cancer are being advanced and developed. In this seminar course, the six main characteristics attributed to cancer, several processes of cell biology specific to cancer, different types of cancer and treatments will be introduced and discussed. Students are expected to research and read current primary literature, participate and lead in daily discussions, write a review paper and present their topics.
