EDU 4550 EARLY CHILDHOOD EXCEPTIONALITY

This course provides an overview of special education for young children. Topics include legislation, referral, assessment, and service delivery. Students learn about various disabilities, research-based intervention practices, and inclusive and separate settings. The importance of a family systems approach for educating children from birth through kindergarten is highlighted, with particular emphasis on serving families from diverse backgrounds.
