PSY 3530 COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY

This course provides an introduction to the field of community psychology. Community psychology as a science seeks to understand relationships between environmental conditions and the development of health and well-being for all members in the community. Students will examine person-environment interactions and the ways society impacts both the individual and the community functioning. The course is presented from the perspectives of ecological systems, sociocultural theories and participatory action research. Topics to be covered include program evaluation, disorder prevention and the promotion of social change.
