DPT 6010 The Physical Therapy Profession in Health Care

DPT 601 introduces broad issues professionalism, from the inter-professional role of the physical therapist in the health care system, to the roles of other types of health care providers, to practical professional issues such as financial management and how to prepare a presentation.  Specific content addresses the history and organization of the American Physical Therapy Association as it relates to current practice, and responsibilities of physical therapists as doctoral level professionals in practice, leadership, public policy, advocacy, and related topics with a focus on professional behaviors.  The course is designed to socialize the student to the expectations of practice at the doctoral level and to provide knowledge and skills necessary for success as a physical therapy student throughout the three-year curriculum.
