CLA 2260 CULTURE OF ANCIENT GREECE

This course examines the culture of the ancient Greeks by focusing on their urban centers, from their antecedents in the Bronze Age to their development in the Hellenistic Period after Alexander the Great. Athens will serve as the primary city for study, and we will examine its history, its political, artistic and physical development, and its religious practices and settings. In addition, we will discuss the nature of select other Greek cities and religious sanctuaries.
