WHE 2300 PERSPECTIVES IN HEALTH PROMOTION: FOUNDATIONS TO FUNCTION

Through interactive lectures, discussions, research and case studies, this course will explore the theoretical, historical, and philosophical foundations of health behavior and health promotion strategies. Health promotion theories, research methods and principles will be used to investigate health challenges faced by individuals locally and globally. Students will apply this knowledge to a specific health issue of interest, providing a synthesized theoretical perspective on the topic, and demonstrating a greater understanding of the interrelationships between the multiple factors that shape the initiation, maintenance and promotion of health behaviors.
