MUS 1300 THE FUNDAMENTALS OF MUSIC

This course provides an introduction to the basic elements of music: pitch, rhythm, form, timbre, dynamics, and texture. Students will learn to read and write in the music notation system developed for both Western European art music and a variety of more recent styles. Students will also learn to apply knowledge to performance and criticism, through performance and listening exercises in class and through out-of-class concert reviews.
