NRS 2100 FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING PRACTICE
This course will introduce the essential elements of nursing education including nursing policy and regulation, patient-centered care, communication and teamwork, evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, informatics/technology, safety and clinical reasoning. In this course, students will apply these foundational skills to nursing across the lifespan.

- 1. Identify basic needs of clients and apply components of the nursing process to develop a plan of care to meet those needs.
- 2. Demonstrate competence in clinical skills per the NRS 210 Clinical Evaluation Tool.
- 3. Communicate effectively with individuals, support persons and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- 4. Incorporate informatics and technology to formulate evidenced-based clinical judgements and decisions
- 5. Interpret the processes of clinical reasoning and applications in nursing practice.
- 6. Explore healthcare with regard to policy and regulations, cost-effective strategies, quality improvement processes and safety.
