POL 3640 EUROPEAN POLITICS IN A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

This course is an introduction to European politics and political relations in a global perspective since 1945.  It examines the basic political systems of European democracies, the evolution and workings of the European Union (EU), and questions of European identity.  The course investigates some of the contemporary and recent issues facing Europe today such as migration, multiculturalism, Eastern enlargement, financial crisis, and terrorism.  We will examine and assess Europe’s role in the world – its relationship with the United States, Russia (and others), and its policies and actions on several key global issues.
