IDS 2230 THEMES IN U.S. CULTURE

This class will introduce first-year international students to some of the major themes that recur in the culture of the Unites States. The main goal is to expose students to and provide them with a critical introduction to American culture. We will approach American culture in an interdisciplinary way and from a variety of critical perspectives. We will read literary artifacts, political documents, and critical essays. We will also listen to songs, watch films, and visit two museums: the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro and the Alamance County Historical Museum.
