Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Elon University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) is a 16-month, 65 credit hour, post-baccalaureate degree that will qualify students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed, registered nurse. Prerequisite requirements include an earned bachelor’s degree in any field and 18-24 hours of prerequisite coursework, including human anatomy and physiology (6-8 credits), microbiology (3-4 credits), basic statistics (3-4 credits), human growth and development or developmental psychology (3-4 credits), and nutrition (3-4 credits). The ABSN will be housed in the School of Health Sciences and primarily executed by faculty who are registered nurses with master’s or doctoral degrees. Willing scholars and collaborators from across campus will be invited to contribute their expertise in areas such as health disparity, religious literacy, cultural humility, and health communication. We are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and holds pre-accreditation status from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation.
