DSC 1000 Professional Practices in Dance Science
This will be a required weekly, non-credit bearing course for all dance science majors in the Department of Performing Arts while they are in residence and on campus. Students do not need to be enrolled when they are away from campus, such as in a Study USA or a Study Abroad semester. Students engage in various professional development opportunities, interact with guest speakers from the dance science field, discuss current trends in dance science, share research projects, and community building. Enrollment in this course is required for every semester during the student's residency on campus as a DSC major. Course is graded Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory.
Notes
- Students will learn:
1. The trends in the dance science field.
2. Professional skills applicable to the dance science field when applying for internships, employment, and graduate school.
3. How to navigate the process of seeking dance science specific internships, employment, and graduate school placement.
4. The principles of professional networking.
5. Field specific critical analysis skills.
6. How to develop professional career materials and packages specific to dance science.
