HSS 3220 Counseling Skills Lab

This course will help students develop their counseling skills and approaches, building on what they learned in HSS 2120 Counseling Individuals and Families. Students will prepare and present mock-counseling videos during regular peer-supervision class sessions. This approach is one of the most effective ways to help students grow and expand their helping skills, giving students a leg-up for graduate school and future work as a helper. Counseling techniques, theories and the latest helping approaches will be explored. Empathy, cultural humility, and counselor/client identities will be emphasized throughout the course.
