HEU 1070 Lifeguarding

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over. Course content follows the American Red Cross lifeguarding certification curriculum and includes communication and teamwork, effective surveillance techniques, victim recognition, emergency action plans, rescue techniques, and victim extrication methods. Students will receive certification from the American Red Cross upon completion of this course.
