HSS 3220 Counseling Skills Lab

This course will help students develop their counseling skills and approaches, building on what they learned in /hss-2120'>HSS 2120 Counseling Individuals and Families. Students will prepare and present mock-counseling videos during regular peer-supervision class sessions. This approach is one of the most effective ways to help students grow and expand their helping skills, giving students a leg-up for graduate school and future work as a helper. Counseling techniques, theories and the latest helping approaches will be explored. Empathy, cultural humility, and counselor/client identities will be emphasized throughout the course.
