LGL 2050 Exploring Legal Professions
Students will be introduced to career pathways within the legal professions and related fields. We’ll explore traditional and alternative legal careers, including emerging areas of specialization, as well as professional competencies and ethical standards within the field. Along the way we’ll discuss educational and licensure requirements, including the LSAT, paralegal/legal assistant certification, and ABA accreditation. The course also covers the law school application process, including familiarization with the LSAT, writing personal statements, and requesting recommendation letters. A range of guest speakers from legally-oriented positions will provide a practical base of knowledge about career options and life in the legal professions.
