NRS 4315 Healthcare Relationships II: Understanding Difference Through a Lens of Comparative Healthcare Systems

This course provides students with an opportunity to build on cultural awareness, social determinants of health, and other inclusive pedagogy explored within the nursing curriculum. Additionally, it allows students to continue to expand their knowledge base of healthcare delivery systems and the influence of equity on health disparities and health outcomes in a variety of global population groups. Students will explore the impact of differing cultural, spiritual, and healthcare practices to facilitate improved client-centered care practices. Activities will encourage students to examine cultural biases, develop intercultural sensitivity and humility, and consider strategies for improving the lives of patients across the lifespan from diverse cultures.
