PHY 1060 Electroacoustics
This course is an introduction to analog electrical circuits in sound reinforcement and reproduction. Significant topics in the course include electrostatics, DC and AC circuit design and analysis, bandpass filter design, and frequency response measurement, especially as these topics relate to microphone and loudspeaker technologies.

- quantitatively characterize circuit elements according to their resistance, capacitance, inductance, and impedance
- qualitatively describe the flow of energy through circuit elements with direct, low- and high-frequency alternating currents
- qualitatively describe the process of turning sound in air into electrical current for common types of microphones
- qualitatively describe the process of turning electrical current into sound in air for common types of speakers
- design and implement first- and second-order crossover circuits between two speaker drivers
- qualitatively describe how industry standard cables carry signals and mitigate the effects of ambient electromagnetic fields
