DPT 614 Foundations of Biomechanics and Musculoskeletal Management
Basic concepts of biomechanics and musculoskeletal management are presented to prepare the student for application to specific regional problems in Module IV, 3 courses: DPT 616, DPT 617, DPT 618: Biomechanics and Management of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction I, II, and III. Principles of biomechanics (kinematics and kinetics) and functional characteristic of bone, connective tissue, and skeletal muscle are presented to develop a conceptual framework for discussion and application to human motion. Content includes an introduction to musculoskeletal physical therapy and the steps of patient/client management to include: history, tests and measures, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical therapy intervention. The foundational concepts are supported by an introduction to a clinical reasoning process informed by current best practice and utilized throughout the musculoskeletal module.
Unsatisfactory course grade-No remediation; must repeat course in cycle. Re-enroll and retake course next year. WILL NOT CONTINUE IN THE CURRICULUM. WILL DELAY GRADUATION from the program.
