CHM 341 INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Inorganic Chemistry is the study of elements across the periodic chart and integrates the concepts of organic, physical, nuclear and solid state chemistry. This course will allow an in-depth understanding of atomic structure, the structure and energy of molecular and ionic compounds, the stoichiometry and energy of oxidation and reduction reactions, the fundamentals and applications of the chemistry of coordination compounds and their reaction mechanisms, and the use of literature in order to achieve student competency. The application of physical methods of structure determination of inorganic compounds by magnetic and spectral methods, including magnetic susceptibility, UV/VIS and IR spectroscopies and NMR spectrometry will be presented throughout the course.
