The Master of Science in Accounting Program
The Combined BSA/MSA is a program designed to provide an expedited avenue for promising, currently enrolled, Elon undergraduate accounting majors an opportunity to earn both the B.S. in Accounting (BSA) and a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) within five years. In general, students will complete a strong liberal arts education during the first two years of study incorporating other popular aspects of an Elon degree such as a study abroad and other experiential and leadership activities that are a hallmark of an Elon graduate. Students will continue their study including the general business core classes and the accounting major. They will apply for admission to the MSA in fall of the third year with admission decisions determined before the beginning of the spring semester. Upon admission to the program the student will complete an internship and one graduate courses during the fourth year of study and additional graduate study during the fifth year.
During the senior year, students will take
ACC 545 Business Ethics for Accounting Professionals.
Courses Completed After Senior Year:
After completion of ACC 545 and the awarding of the BSA, students will take additional graduate classes for a total of ten graduate courses. These courses correspond to the coursework required for the MSA .
Current Elon accounting majors who meet the following criteria may apply to the program:
Junior standing or higher (completed at least 70 hours)
A minimum cumulative Elon GPA of 3.2
A minimum cumulative Elon GPA in accounting coursework of 3.1
Admission to the Combined Program does not require the GMAT, essays, or letters of recommendation. Additionally, students have the potential to keep/continue funding/scholarships awarded as undergraduates at Elon University into the MSA program.
Goals of the Combined BSA/MSA:
100% placement of graduates
100% passing rate of CPA exam within one year after graduation
