GBL 259 IRELAND: LITERATURE, CULTURE AND HISTORY
This course explores the world of Irish literature through a study of culture, history, and landscape. The course examines the Irish culture formed from centuries of oppression through the eyes of 20th century writers, including W.B. Yeats, J.M. Synge, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, and Seamus Heaney. Site visits to major places of artistic and historic relevance such as Limerick, Galway, Sligo, Derry, and Dublin are included. Come see how Irish literature reflects Irish life and Irish land!
