CHM 352 Biochemistry Laboratory
Primarily this is a course that focuses on doing science – the practical application of the concepts learned in lecture. It introduces students to the fundamental principles and lab techniques of biochemistry with special emphasis on developing skills in protein extraction, purification, qualitative and quantitative analysis, ligand binding, and enzyme kinetics, and will do so in a way that is collaborative and scientific method-driven. The entire course is designed around a single multi-part experiment that students will help to design and guide throughout the semester. Throughout the course of the research project, students will compile their findings in a manuscript to be submitted for publication to the peer-reviewed journal, Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC). To earn credit within the major, students must earn a C- or better in this lab course.

Students enrolled in CHM 352 will either need to be enrolled or have already completed
CHM 351.
