NRS 400 Preparatory Seminar: Healthcare Relationships II

This course will provide foundational learning experiences for NRS 430: Healthcare Relationships II: Disparity, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which is dedicated to identifying, understanding and analyzing the impact of disparity and diversity within healthcare.  Policies and practices that support equitable and inclusive healthcare will be evaluated. Through reflective activities, students will create a proposal for new policies/practices that promote the inclusive and equitable provision of healthcare.

2. 2. Critically evaluate their own culture and biases.
3. 3. Demonstrate awareness of diversity within religious traditions.
4. 4. Display sensitivity to diverse cultural beliefs and practices while developing self-awareness and self-confidence through exposure to and reflection on difference.
5. 5. Identify disease prevalence, risk factors and health disparity among different racial/ethnic groups in the United States.
6. 6. Determine methods for the provision of optimal patient care delivery in culturally diverse settings.
7. 7. Assess their ability to develop treatment plans for clients from diverse cultures.
8. 8. Explore the importance of advocacy and develop a life-long professional commitment to cultural competency.
9. 9. Complete all necessary travel preparedness.
