Accounting involves measuring the outcome of business activities and communicating this information to help investors, creditors, and others to make decisions. Elon offers both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Accounting.

Elon’s program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Accounting includes the central topics of financial and cost accounting as well as an introduction to taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems. The BSA degree provides students with a strong background in the liberal arts and seeks to develop their competency in accounting for entry level positions in business and industry. Given the increasing complexity of accounting regulations, the MSA is being emphasized by public accounting firms for students interested in becoming a Certified Public Accountant and pursuing a career in public accounting.

If you are a current undergraduate accounting major at Elon and are interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting, you may be eligible to apply to Elon’s Master of Science in Accounting program in your junior year. The BSA/MSA program is a five-year program that allows students to complete some of the requirements for both the BSA and MSA concurrently in their senior year. The BSA/MSA program requires careful planning. Please consult your faculty advisor or the MSA faculty coordinator as early as possible.

At least 50% of the accounting credit hours required for the Bachelor of Science degree must be earned at Elon.
