EDU 4200 METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR TEACHING MATHEMATICS

This course examines the mathematics teaching and learning for grades K-6.  Students learn how to investigate, evaluate, and select content, methods, and materials used to teach a balanced approach to mathematics: conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning and problem solving.  Critical thinking, curricular integration, and differentiation is emphasized in the design and implementation of lessons consistent with state and national standards, reflecting best practices in research and literature for this field. A concurrent internship offers opportunities to apply concepts and skills.
