Health Communications Minor

The Health Communications minor provides an interdisciplinary approach to solving personal and public health or healthcare challenges through ethical, evidence-based communication. The minor is broad and designed for students across disciplines who have an interest in working in agency, community, government, or healthcare settings where creative ideas and professional written and oral health communication skills are essential. Students will develop essential research and planning skills.

Program Outcomes

Apply health communication theory and research to create strategies that increase health literacy, influence behavior change, improve patient-provider relationships, and/or influence health policy.

Use intercultural communication skills to inform and engage diverse audiences including healthcare consumers, domestic and global communities, policy makers, and/or a variety of organizations and businesses.

Make data-informed, ethical decisions and present clear messages about health.
