SPT 3050 SPORT LAW

The law affects the operations of the sport industry in numerous ways.  This course introduces students to the many Constitutional, statutory, regulatory and policy provisions that frame how decisions and actions are made and enforced.  Students read cases, including several from the Supreme Court, regarding such areas as collective bargaining, stadium liability for fan injuries, random drug testing programs, Title IX and sports betting, and learn how to analyze critically the rights and obligations of athletes, teams, leagues, agencies, brands and other stakeholders throughout the sport landscape.
