Respondent Withdrawal or Decision Not to Participate in an Investigation

If the respondent chooses not to participate in either the Title IX or Sexual Misconduct policy process, the respondent will still be informed that he or she is alleged to have violated university policy, that an investigation will be conducted, and that the resolution process will continue.

Student respondents may elect to pursue a Withdrawal pursuant to the Code of Conduct. The Associate Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students (or designee) will may confer with the Title IX coordinator prior to granting a request. Even if the request is granted, if a student respondent involved in a Title IX case is no longer enrolled at Elon, the university retains the authority to determine whether a Discretionary Dismissal of the Title IX complaint is appropriate.
