Shadowing During the Academic Phase

During the Didactic phase, “shadowing” in clinical settings that is not authorized by the Program and is not permitted. This is to assure that students do not violate health care facility credentialing procedures (HIPAA, immunization compliance, safety, etc.) and are not put in a situation where they are expected to provide patient care for which they do not have appropriate training. Examples of shadowing experiences that are authorized during the Didactic phase include volunteering at the Open Door Clinic or the Dream Center provided a student has completed all immunization requirements.
