Photography Minor

The Photography minor offers a focused selection of studio art and visual culture courses designed to enhance students' understanding and practice of photography. This minor complements students' majors by providing a structured exploration of photography's visual language and its role in conveying meaning and intent. Emphasizing both technical skills and conceptual understanding, the program encourages students to develop their own artistic expression through contemporary photography.

If pursuing a minor in Digital Arts and a minor in Photography, only ART 2600 and ARH 3200 course may count towards both.

Program Outcomes

Photography minor students will have knowledge and skills in the use of materials, techniques, technologies and processes of the discipline. They will be knowledgeable in photographic aesthetic, conceptual and theoretical issues and have the ability to articulate ideas in both written and oral formats. They will understand how photographs are made, seen and valued in our culture.
