EDU2950 Research Methods in Education
This course provides an introduction to the theory, methods, and frameworks of educational research. The course is grounded in socially-just research and designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on non-positivist modes of research. We will focus on the development of post-positivist methodologies and examine the influence of postmodern, critical, and Indigenous perspectives on educational research. This course frames educational research broadly and includes formal and informal educational settings. Throughout the course, students will gain an understanding of qualitative and quantitative research, an appreciation of the complexity involved with educational research, and beginning skills for conducting their own research projects.
