GBL1315 Preparatory Seminar for Healthcare Relationships II- Understanding Difference through a Lens of Comparative Healthcare Systems

This course helps prepare students academically, inter-culturally, linguistically, and logistically for their short-term global experience in NRS 4315: Healthcare Relationships II: Understanding Difference through a Lens of Comparative Healthcare Systems. Students begin by exploring healthcare and healthcare systems in the U.S., while also beginning to learn to explore a case study in another part of the world. Through exploration of students’ own culture and biases and developing intercultural awareness, sensitivity, and humility, future nurses will learn to provide individualized and responsive care. This pre-departure course focuses on establishing a knowledge base and essential intercultural skills to address the needs of individual patients and communities across varying healthcare systems and healthcare delivery.
