ACT 3325 Vocal Production III

Vocal Production III is designed to culminate knowledge gained in previous courses and build upon it for the purpose of preparing the voice for performance. We will exhaustively explore the appropriate limitations and capabilities of the voice, placing a specific importance on each student’s personal discipline with regard to memorization, the ability to utilize the fullness of breath, tone and vocal flexibility necessary for specific roles.

1. Develop a system for memorizing text
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the mechanics of healthy vocal production and speech for the stage
3. Demonstrate proficiency with the International Phonetic Alphabet
4. Engage with and complete a variety of vocal progression exercises from Linklater, Rosenberg, and Hart
5. Analyze text and scripted material and design vocal warm-ups appropriate for a variety of performance demands
