LAW 785 Advanced Civil Procedure
This course will focus upon the major procedural and substantive issues that arise in the context of complex civil litigation. For the purpose of this course, litigation is considered complex because of the nature or quantity of information involved. The course reviews and expands on the topics covered in the Civil Procedure course with a focus on class action litigation. Specifically, the course will consider the preclusion doctrines, joinder devices, the management of complex discovery, and advocacy techniques. The course format is a combination of short lecture, class discussion, and simulations. Formerly known as Complex Civil Litigation.
