COR 402 GLOBAL INNOVATION: SOLVING PROBLEMS WITH DESIGN THINKING

Though San Francisco is home to some of the largest companies in the world including Google, Facebook, and Apple, it also contains the second largest homeless population in the country. This course uses San Francisco and an internship to understand global problems that are vexing startup companies, large companies, non-profits and society as a whole. The powerful combination of the liberal arts capstone (COR course) and professional capstone (internship) seeks to achieve the overall goal of being a university capstone that facilitates the transition from college to professional life. Throughout the summer, students will be engaged in a deep understanding of the intersection of problem solving, critical thinking, social good, and how innovation ecosystems foster the creation of solutions to problems. In addition to reading and writing about innovators, students will personally engage innovators who reside in Silicon Valley.
