FIN 4180 FINANCIAL MARKETS AND INSTITUTIONS

The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of the role that financial institutions and markets play in our modern national and global economies. The course will examine interest rates, monetary policy, securities and their markets, the Federal Reserve, business cycles and how financial institutions manage risk. In addition, the recent economic upheaval and the instability on Wall Street will be discussed.
