Financial Technology
The FinTech major introduces students to financial theory through the lens of emerging technology. We accomplish this by helping students understand concepts of investment and corporate decision-making as they are influenced by data management and visualization, advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning, and modern financial tools, such as blockchain technology and automation in market making and investment strategies. Students will learn how these emerging technologies will be used in new ways going forward, and how financial decision-makers will be influenced as a result.

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Financial Technology requires the completion of the Elon Core Curriculum as well as the Major Requirements listed below.
Students who major in Financial Technology may not also major in Finance.

Program Outcomes
(a) gain a foundational understanding of financial theory and practice our core set of finance courses.
(b) increase student computing and data literacy, such as how to manage large data sets using modern tools, like cloud computing.
(c) strengthen understanding of how traditional financial theory is being applied in new ways with emerging technologies, such as automation, blockchains, and decentralized finance tools.
(d) expose students to a wide-range of statistical and data analysis tools commonly used in business settings, such as machine learning and data visualization.
