CTA3671 Directing from Script to Screen

This course introduces the core creative and technical responsibilities of directing for narrative film and television. Students will explore visual storytelling, basic film grammar, blocking, camera movement, and directing performance through in-class exercises and scene analysis. Emphasis is placed on developing an initial aesthetic approach, communicating ideas visually, and understanding the director’s role from pre-production through production. The course also offers an overview of industry pathways for aspiring directors and opportunities to pursue directing beyond the classroom.
